Design participatory and efficient online workshops

The classic workshop formats are not being left behind by the digitalisation of the working world: In your role, you are faced with the challenge that it is not always possible or useful to bring a group together in one place. Managing the available technologies competently is important but, by itself, this is not enough to create effective, vibrant online workshops. On the contrary, a well-established understanding of the role of the online moderator, plus the psychological and methodological distinctions of virtual collaboration, is absolutely essential. This seminar enables you to expand your moderation and consultancy competence in the virtual world.

Features of this seminar

Practice makes perfect: In accordance with the contents, the seminar has been designed as an interactive online workshop. The particular challenges of the format are experienced by the group in various exercises.

Individual design: Learning from concrete, personal examples is an important success factor in simplifying the application of the training. In the seminar, you will establish approaches for real events from your normal working day.

Tool-independent: The modules take place in "Adobe Connect", but certain modules occur in other virtual spaces depending on your requirements.

Seminar contents

Module 1– introduction, familiarisation of the "space": Understanding the differences between face-to-face and online workshops, implementing this knowledge in virtual events in order to successfully plan online workshops.

Module 2 – experience the role of the online moderator: Appearance and impact – understanding, practising and effectively using body language, clothing, voice, camera image as a moderator to full effect.

Module 3 – design principles in the virtual space including practices: Design principles for different workshop scenarios and features of event/procedure schedules in the virtual environment.

Module 4 – transferring established face-to-face methods: Understanding and learning which established face-to-face methods can be transferred to online workshops and discussing successful practical examples.

Module 5 – practice and case reviews: Active moderation of individual practical cases with the online tools available within the company, plus tips on mastering technical difficulties and tensions in the group.

Moderation experience, computer with Internet connection, webcam and headphones
