Lead one-on-one conversations professionally

Some conversations are a waste of time; others go really well and help bring about change. The difference: methods which develop your ability to conduct discussions and strengthen their impact. In this module, you will learn how to establish stable working relationships and achieve reliable resolutions. You will practise how to structure in a goal-oriented manner, how to create an encouraging environment, how to overcome hurdles and how to reach a binding conclusion. You will be able to establish new perspectives and find solutions that suit your clients and their context using your own cases.

Target group
Anyone who, in their professional function, regularly needs to conduct one-off consultations and/or long-term coaching with several sessions

Seminar contents

  • Phases model: common themes and key activities in coaching communications
  • Question technique: for specifying and finding suitable solutions
  • Active listening and establishing contact: how to use perception in order to establish a stable working relationship
  • Problem versus solution focus: two attitudes with different results
  • Target aspects for consulting: commitment to professional communications
  • Consulting approach: reflection of the internal/external roles and responsibilities of the coach
  • Feedback: from peers and the trainer

Learning objectives

  • To be able to lead communications from beginning to end in a structured way
  • To be in the position where you can convert imprecise statements into specific ones in order to guarantee the result is achieved
  • To allow complex topics to be discussed and establish an anxiety-free communication atmosphere
  • To consciously use the two basic approaches to consulting—problem-oriented and solution-oriented—depending on the person you are consulting
  • To be able to assess how active you can be with regards to the content of a consultation — handling advice

If there are eight or more participants, we will provide two trainers.
